In June last year, Nathan & Michelle, traveled to England where they shared the most romantic, unique and magical engagement at Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio in front of Hogwarts Castle. For Michelle, being a massive Harry Potter fan, this was the ultimate dream engagement! Have a look at their engagement photos back in South Africa here.
They chose to get married in May - one of the most beautiful months for a wedding in my opinion! I just love how nature changes colour over this time. The morning started out overcast and the clouds were threatening to rain which gave the whole day a very dramatic feel. Just as the couple were done getting ready and Michelle was making her way towards the ceremony - the rain came down. Nathan had a sneak peek of his bride through the window and soon the tears came too!
It was beautiful to hear the raindrops fall outside as the two lovebirds shared their vows. They also literally 'tied the knot' during a special ritual where members of both families wrapped colourful ribbons around the bride & groom's hands - each colour ribbon representing a significant aspect of their relationship. Then they pulled their hands apart and a big knot was tied!
The day was full of other unique and special details - like the confetti tins that Michelle's Gr 2 learners decorated and the fun socks and sneakers that the whole bridal party wore.
After the rain came the sun and opened up a beautiful blue sky with a spectacular sunset. We spent the afternoon wandering about the venue's seemingly endless photo spots. There was hardly a moment where the couple and their bridal party were not doubled over in laughter. It really is special to see your dearest friends and family share so deeply in your joy!
Soon everyone was settled into the cosy Towerbosch restaurant. The unique decor and blazing fire added to the magic and romance of the day. After a delicious family feast the rest of the night was spent next to the fire place with a glass of red wine and great company - I can't think of a more perfect way to spend a chilly autumn evening!
Thank you for a memorable day, Mr & Mrs Kettles!
