I love those love stories that are just too unlikely to have been made up. Jono (a musician from Cape Town) & Sophia (a former model from Germany) both lived in Cape Town, but only met when they both happened to move to the same tiny rural village in England at the same time.

These two seem like polar opposites - Jono being the deep thinker and passionate about technology, Sophia being the wild and fiery one, passionate about health. Yet, they have so much in common - their faith, their love for Cape Town, their appreciation for music and nature. I loved to hear Sophia talk about their relationship: 'I think our relationship works so well because we have enough in common to connect us and enough differences to inspire each other and bring new and fascinating aspects into our lives.’

There were surprises and special moments all throughout the wedding day. The couple got married in the same church and by the same pastor   that married Jono’s mother, brother and sister - a beautiful family tradition! The bride was escorted down the aisle by her brother towards a very emotional groom. After the couple had said their vows, exchanged rings and had their first kiss as husband & wife, Jono took to the stage. He sat down at the keyboard and played while he sang a song he had written specially for his new wife. Needless to say, there were tears all around.

We travelled to the stunning Cape Point Vineyards and after a few photos it was Jono's turn to be surprised. Sophia had recorded a song that she also had written. As she gave Jono the earphones they made their way down to the deck to share this intimate moment. Here I could see that music and song is a big part of this relationship! Even during the bridal party shoot, Jono started serenading his bride, backed up by the rest of his crew. Before we knew it, we were basically on a music video set...

As the sun was setting, the mountain was lit up in beautiful tones while the newlyweds snuggled up against the chilly wind. The couple joined their guests inside the venue and sat down to enjoy a delicious dinner. The reception was just as full of beautiful and fun moments as the rest of the day! The mother of the bride welcomed Jono into the family by giving him a few 'traditional' German gifts. And, once again, Sophia was serenaded by her new husband.

Later that night, the couple surprised their guests with a choreographed waltz as their first dance. This day was a perfect picture of a joyful celebration of love - dancing, music and singing! It was such an amazing experience to be part of all the fun, laughter and silliness.

Mr & Mrs Van Deventer, may you two never stop writing each other love songs!
